As you lie on the table under soft, fresh sheets, quiet music draws you into the moment. The pains of age, the aching from your overstressed muscles, the simple need to be touched - all cry out for therapeutic hands to start their work. Soon the problems of the world fade into an oblivious 60 minutes of relief, and all you can comprehend right now is not wanting it to end.
But what if that hour of massage did more for you than just take the pressures of the day away? What if gentle touch helped you combat cancer? What if bodywork helped you recover from a strained hamstring in half the time? What if your sleep, digestion and mood all improved with massage and bodywork?
In my Massage practice I experience myself as a facilitator to a woman's own healing process rather than as a healer who may outwardly direct a woman's process. Massage is a personal and an interactive experience. My own style of Swedish massage is relaxed and unhurried, paying special attention to each client's needs.
Reiki is an ancient Japanese form of energy healing which helps the Body, Mind and Spirit achieve greater harmony. The touch is light and the focus is on freeing up energy blocks in the body. It is subtle but profound. During a session, the Reiki creates full relaxation in the client which greatly reduces stress, pain and discomfort in the body. Reiki also works on the emotions and quiets the mind.
You begin a typical Reiki session lying fully clothed on a very comfortable, padded table. I place my hands gently over different positions on your head and body, staying in each positon three to five minutes. You may feel warmth or tingling under my hands. Most people find themselves deeply relaxed after a few minutes and some even fall asleep.
The full effects of Reiki are often not experienced until a full 3 days after the session and may be long lasting.
In my office I have a sliding scale fee in order to easily serve all women . I also give Reiki on a volunteer basis at the Charlotte Maxwell Complementary Clinic for low income women with cancer.
"As a 63-year old woman, a nurse-midwife, wife, mother and grandmother, I have often felt the need to...take care of myself better! It may have been after a long labor with a first baby or after taking care of my own family, or just because my life was so busy...having known Bridget for 25 years, all of the above have been times for a massage! I love Bridget's style of massage...the knowledge of anatomy, the use of just the pressure the client wants/needs, the professional and yet gentle and comforting atmosphere...it all fits with my needs."
"I had my first massage with Bridget when I was about 8 weeks postpartum. I was exhausted, depleted and bleary eyed! The massage she gave me was AMAZING...truly transformative. I left feeling incredibly taken care of, soothed and restored. It was a true turning point in those early months. I've been coming back ever since (6+ years!)"
"It has been a long, long time since I felt so relaxed, so at peace"
